Reading week
A time to catch up and catch my breath.
We have a week off lectures, this week is ideally spent researching topics and catching up on reading particularly on your dissertation topic. However, our reading week is actually more like reading 2 days. Monday was a bank holiday so the library was closed. I also had guests visiting so I was more than happy to leave the books to one side and spend some time with them.
Tuesday and Wednesday we are still in the Seanad to continue our internship and work in there continues at pace. I am reminded of that famous quote “Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated” which I believe is attributed to Mark Twain.
So Thursday and Friday will be spent in the library catching up on notes and some reading of material that I have not gotten around to as of yet. November is just around the corner and marks the start of the run into the submission of my dissertation proposal. I am still really struggling to find a suitable topic and my proposals so far are fairly flat and lacklustre. I keep hoping if I keep reading books by people more interesting than I, that I will be inspired to something far cleverer than anything I can come up with.
On a side note we are also tasked with tracking the development of a particular bill through the legislative process in order to fully understand all the elements. I decided that sounds like a nice project to run on the site here, so I am planning to open a project page where I will detail a particular bill I am tracking and the stages it has gone through to date.
Back to the books.
